The Unofficial Fashion Report: Best Oscars Dresses

Okay, well, everyone has their own opinions on the Oscars between the movies featured, the actors and actresses honored to probably the most favorite to criticize.. what people wore.  While people like editors of fashion magazines, the official Fashion Police show on E Television and “Todays Professionals” on The Today Show gave their opinions, I am about to give mine.  I enjoy the show each year not only because I am a movie enthusiast but also because I am so blatantly obsessed with fashion.

There were some obvious trends in the various gowns that showed up on the red carpet.  Many gowns were in white, ivory or nude colors such as Gwyneth Paltrow in her self-dubbed “Jackie O moment” as well as the standout color of red or coral as well.  There also was a similar theme of a fuller than normal skirt or peplum detailing as in the dress Tina Fey wore that was exclusively designed by Carolina Herrera for the big night.  There was another recurring theme of embellishments from heavily beaded dresses to embroidered golden gowns from McQueen worn by Jessica Chastain, and I don’t care if you were or weren’t watching the awards show, we all saw the leg, thee leg, c’mon you know what  I’m talking about.  But enough about the details of the dresses, lets move on to some actual pictures and my top 3 best of the 2012 Oscars..

Top Three Best Dressed:

1. Natalie Portman: The new mother not only wore an amazing red and black polka dotted Dior Haute Couture dress but also debuted a new wedding ring and secret married status to hubby Benjamin Millepied.  She was all that was talked about last year after starring in the Black Swan and winning an Academy Award for her role as an overly uptight, neurotic ballet dancer and this year proved no different.  See for yourself below.
